Siraman Kedamaian

Sungguh, jarang manusia yang hatinya mendapat siraman kedamaian, musyahadah (penyaksian), dan kedekatan (kepada Allah). Mereka tidak merasakan sakitnya mahupun bala'nya taqdir. Mereka lewatkan hari-hari penuh bencana itu, tanpa ia menyedarinya. Kemudian mereka memuji Allah swt. dan ia mensyukuri-Nya. Mereka itulah para Muwahhidin kerana tidak pernah menentang kehendak dan ketentuan Allah swt. Sesungguhnya bencana-bencana itu juga turun kepada mereka, sebagaimana ia turun kepadamu. Tetapi sebahagian mereka bersabar dan sebahagian yang lain telah fana dalam menghadapinya. Merasa sakit adalah ketika imannya masih lemah, kemudian dapat bersabar ketika iman masih kecil, dapat menerima ketika iman menginjak baligh, dan dapat meredhai ketika iman telah mencapai tingkatan yang dekat (di sisi-Nya).

Cinta Allah swt. bukanlah sesuatu yang mudah hingga setiap orang bisa mengaku-aku. Betapa banyak orang yang mengaku menjadi kekasih Allah swt., padahal sebenarnya ia jauh dari-Nya. Dan betapa banyak orang yang tidak mengaku menjadi kekasih-Nya, sedangkan ia berada di sisi-Nya.

Janganlah kamu menghina seorang pun dari kaum muslimin. Sesungguhnya rahsia Allah swt. itu tersembunyi pada diri mereka. Tawadhu'lah, jangan sombong terhadap hamba-hamba Allah swt.

Barangsiapa banyak melakukan kedurhakaan dan banyak melakukan kesalahan namun ia tidak menyesal dan bertaubat, sungguh ia telah menginginkan kekufuran.

Wahai anak muda, wajah-wajah kebaikan yang kamu sukai itu dari cinta yang naqish (kurang). Kamu masih selalu melihatnya. Cinta yang benar tidak pernah berubah. Kasih sayang Allah adalah yang kamu lihat dengan mata hatimu. Itulah cinta para siddiqin, bukan sekadar cinta dengan keimanan, tetapi dengan keyakinan. Tabir yang menghalangi mata telah terbuka dan tersingkap oleh mata hati.

Ya Allah, berilah kami rezeki berupa kasih sayang-Mu, bersama ampunan dan keselamatan.

kelmarin lena di dasar tanah

pagi senyum menatap mentari

dari semua ayat-Nya,

apa sudah

tercermin di kalbuku,

The Night Like That One

I've heard that a certain man lost his camel.

He goes everywhere, not finding that camel.

He falls asleep in the desert by the side of the road,

tired and thinking now he's through looking.

Late in the night he wakes up full of that loss.

The moon comes rolling out like a white ball

on the huge, empty polo field of the sky.

By that light he sees his camel standing

in the middle of the road. His tears

come easily like a quick rain.

He turns his face up, wet and shining.

How can I say what you are with your light?

Let this be a night like that one.

Each second the moon tells us,

Be more passionate.

We should shine back and tell it the same thing.

It makes us restless.

It grieves for us.

Take it inside you,

that One whose Presence

is water.

We are the stream,

searching along.

That One is musk.

We are the way musk smells.

Why not spray ourselves?

Journey From self To Self

If a tree could run or fly

it would not suffer from the teeth of a saw

or the blows of an axe.

If the Sun did not run across the sky

the world would not see

the colors of morning.

If water did not rise from the sea

plants would not be quickened

by rivers or rain.

It's only when a drop leaves the ocean and returns

that it can find an oyster

and become a pearl.

When Yusuf left his father

both were weeping.

Didn't he gain a kingdom and a fortune

in the end?

Didn't the Prophet

gain the world and a hundred empires

by traveling to Medina?

But you have no need to go anywhere

journey within yourself.

Enter a mine of rubies

and bathe in the splendor of your own light.

O great one,

Journey from self to Self

and find the mine of gold.

Leave behind what is sour and bitter

move toward what is sweet.

Be like the thousand different fruits

that grow from briny soil.

This is the miracle

Every tree becomes beautiful

when touched by sunlight;

Every soul becomes 'God'

when touched by the Shams of Tabriz.

Sweetest Presence

Life without repentance is spiritual agony;

to be absent from God is immediate death.

Two Veils

Between God and His servant are just two veils;

all other veils become manifest

from these two: health and wealth.

He who is healthy says,

"Where is God? I don't know

and I don't see."

As soon as he begins to suffer,

he says, "Oh God! Oh God!",

and he begins sharing his secrets with Him

and talking to Him.

So you see that health was his veil, and

God was hidden under his pain.

So long as man has riches, he

gathers together all the means

of achieving his desires.

Night and day he busies himself

with them.

But as soon as he loses

his wealth, his ego weakens

and he turns round about God.
